Not quite your average sight, I discovered this Banana spider hanging from an Ice Cream Banana tree at the Florida Botanical Gardens. Patiently waiting for a meal, this five inch spider can be quite intimidating. Completely harmless, the Banana spider female ranks among the most gentle spiders in Florida. They kindly cohabit with their mates after copulation unlike other spider females who gladly execute and eat male spiders after mating. I'm not a big fan of spiders but I think this one is growing on me.
